Lost my usual blue pencil and architect finishing pencil, so I was stuck going old school while doodling at work.  I also was flipping through the Christie’s catalog for the Princess Margaret auction.  So you get fae royalty.
Titania always gets a bad rap, and I suspect that her origins had her a lot more powerful than she ever was in Shakespeare’s work.

The Problems of Drawing at Work…

I admit, I spend a good bulk of my time doodling in my downtime at work, and working as a frontline staff, lots of people see me drawing.

Now, despite my love of asking everyone for prompts and posting some of my art online to share, generally I’m doodling for myself, not to entertain others.  I will sketch 3-5 pieces a day, and they can range from fan art to character designs to just working on observation skills (please note, I NEVER draw members of the general public- much like photography, using someone’s likeness without their permission is a big squick for me.)

Lately, quite a few people have been looking over my shoulder, commenting, and often flipping through my sketchbook when I step away or asking to flip through (usually when reaching for it).

For me this is a big problem.  These are personal items (and while none of them are risque) that are not for other people, generally.  But I am doing this in public, and I work in customer service.  I’m not in a position to say no, usually.

My boss often comments that I seem to be quick to change the subject/downplay when people comment or praise my work.

What is it about my situation that seems to make this socially acceptable? Is it because I’m in customer service, so I am beholden to the visitors?  Is there a way to decline or deflect the attention?

Uuuuuuughhhh, it is too hot.
The last time it was this hot I was stuck in a trailer for my motorcycle license.
So that’s probably the reason why, while stuck at work, I doodled this.  Maybe.
Perspective/accuracy/pose/anatomy is off, but I drew it without reference or even a dang ruler.
15 min color job just to distinguish the biker from the bike.
